When to use an emergency Help Point Unit

Sep 25, 2023 | FAQs

Parklands and public spaces offer a recreational space for the public. In Australia, City Councils have incorporated the installation of Emergency Help Point Units while designing these large open spaces. This is to ensure the visitors have access to these devices in the unlikely event of an emergency.

The system is more than a piece of technology, it is an essential lifeline in times of distress. They provide quick communication, operational efficiency, visitor safety and crime deterrence. The devices have been carefully positioned in these spaces for public access, it is important that the public are made aware that these units are there for help when required.

When can I push an emergency button?

  • Suspicious Activity: If you notice any suspicious activities that might threaten your safety or that of others, it is always better to report it. This includes observing potential thefts, or any other criminal activities
  • Medical Emergency: If you or someone near you experience a health issue such as a heart attack, allergic reaction, or any condition that would require medical attention please use the intercom
  • Hazards in the park: This can range anywhere between broken pieces of equipment, a fallen tree blocking a passage way. Hazards are not emergencies, but they can lead to potential dangers
  • Lost or missing persons: If you are missing a child at the park, or cannot locate a member of your group, it is imperative to report it immediately over the intercom
  • Accidents: Parks are often equipped with various recreational facilities. If an accident occurs in the playground, swimming area, or similar, use the intercom to seek help
  • In Case of Emergency: If in doubt, ask yourself, is this an emergency and do I require assistance? If yes, press the button.

Jacques integration to CCTV systems allows for camera switching when an intercom call is pressed. This integrated security solution allows emergency services to respond in a timely manner with audio and visual feed from affected regions.

Emergency intercoms are not just pieces of hardware, they symbolise a commitment to safety and security for all park visitors. By understanding their importance and when to use them, we can all contribute to making our parks safer and more enjoyable spaces for everyone.

Remember, Safety first!
