Goodwill Bridge

Jun 3, 2025 | Projects

The Goodwill Bridge in Brisbane is more than just a pedestrian crossing—it’s a vital link between Brisbane’s South Bank and the QUT Gardens Point campus, used daily by thousands of walkers, runners, and cyclists. As an iconic piece of infrastructure in the heart of the city, public safety and accessibility are top priorities.

Jacques Technologies was proud to deliver a tailored communication solution for the Goodwill Bridge, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety and inclusion across urban infrastructure. This project went beyond standard deployment—several HPUs were specially customised to meet accessibility standards, including the integration of Braille on the surface of the units, ensuring safe and inclusive access for all pedestrians, including those with vision impairments.

Tailored Emergency Communication

The Help Point Unit offers single as well as dual-button functionality for emergency and information calls. The interface was adapted for high pedestrian use and designed for ease of operation in stressful situations.

Inclusive Accessibility with Braille

In collaboration with city stakeholders, Jacques delivered HPUs featuring raised tactile markers and Braille labels. These ensure that individuals with visual impairments can locate and use the units confidently and independently.

Customised Design for Public Infrastructure

Recognising the unique aesthetic and environmental needs of the Goodwill Bridge, the HPUs were engineered with custom faceplates and finishes to align with the bridge’s style while standing up to weather, wear, and misuse.

Robust & Resilient

Built to thrive in outdoor environments, each HPU is vandal-resistant, weatherproof, and finished with an anti-graffiti coating. These durable units are designed for continuous operation and minimal maintenance.

Centralised Monitoring and Integration

The system enables real-time monitoring of device status, automatic speaker/microphone tests, and integration with CCTV and public address systems, allowing security personnel to coordinate quick, informed responses.
