Neville Bonner Bridge

May 29, 2025 | Projects

Brisbane’s newest pedestrian bridge, the Neville Bonner Bridge, isn’t just a visually stunning addition to the city skyline—it’s also a critical piece of infrastructure connecting two of the city’s busiest precincts. As thousands of pedestrians cross the bridge each day, safety and communication are essential. That’s where Jacques Technologies comes in.

At Jacques, we understand that public safety is not just about responding to emergencies—it’s about being prepared for them. For the Neville Bonner Bridge, we delivered a bespoke emergency communication system using our robust IP Help Point Units (HPUs), ensuring that anyone crossing the bridge has access to immediate assistance if needed.

One-Touch Emergency Communication

Our HPUs allow pedestrians to instantly connect with security or emergency response teams at the push of a button. Depending on the configuration, units can provide emergency-only contact or also include general assistance/information call functions.

Built for Harsh Environments

With water-resistant, vandal-resistant, and anti-graffiti finishes, our Help Point Units are made to withstand the demands of outdoor, high-use public spaces—without compromising on design or usability.

Fully Monitored, Always Ready

Every unit is monitored in real time. The system checks for microphone and speaker functionality, triggers alerts on tampering or removal attempts, and provides system operators with up-to-date health status—ensuring peak performance 24/7.

Integrated and Intelligent

Seamlessly connected with CCTV and public address systems, Jacques HPUs form a powerful safety network. When an emergency button is pressed, the associated CCTV is triggered along with the strobe light at the call point. Each call point feeds into a central management interface, allowing for coordinated incident response and data-driven decision-making.
